Drunk Driving Charges Stem From Hit-and-run Involving Bicyclist

It is not uncommon for criminal charges to result from car accidents. Even if a driver is not necessarily considered at fault for the crash, that driver could still face charges if he or she does not remain at the scene or is suspected of drunk driving. Unfortunately, these charges can be difficult to address.

It was recently reported that a hit-and-run accident took place in North Carolina involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. Apparently, the 59-year-old man on the bicycle did not yield to traffic on the roadway, and as a result, he traveled into the path of a car. The 30-year-old man driving the car did not remain at the scene after the collision, but witnesses followed the driver. Authorities located him not far from the accident site.

The bicyclist was considered to be in critical condition as a result of the crash. The vehicle driver was taken into custody and is currently facing multiple charges, included driving while intoxicated, not having insurance, felony hit-and-run, driving while license revoked and felony serious injury by motor vehicle. At the time of the report, he had been released from custody with a future court date.

This North Carolina man undoubtedly wants to handle the drunk driving charges and other allegations as best as possible. It may take a considerable amount of work, but he has the opportunity to defend against those charges in hopes of working toward a favorable outcome. In order to put his best foot forward, he may wish to gain reliable information and assistance from local legal resources.
